As the colder months are setting in, many of us would rather stay inside and watch TV than go outdoors and get some excercise.

When you are a parent with young children even getting to the gym can be a challenge.

Sprout Movement and Cochrane's Parent Link Centre have come together to create a program called 'Wee Move Together'.

Laura Spruyt, Physical Literacy Coordinator/Owner of Sprout Movement, says it's a class that keeps both moms and children between ages 3 and 5 moving.

"The first ten to fifteen minutes we spend together- parents and children. Parents learn activities they can do to be active at home and then after that we separate. I take the children and we do active movement play programs and then the parents get a chance to go with a certified instructor for their own fitness session."

Every week, the parents try out different classes such as zumba, pilates and yoga; while the kids use their imagination and play according to various themes.

Spruyt says parents are starting to transition their kids into sports too early but this program gives them the basic general fundamental skills to be more confident.

"Parents want them playing on the soccer field at two and a half or going right into hockey at 4. This just gives them a general base of activity and movements like throwing jumping, dodging and galloping so they can be more comfortable to use those skills on their own."

We Move Together is free and runs Monday's from 9 A.M. to 10 A.M. at Snap Dance Studios.
