The all-star game of the Pinoy Basketball Airdrie league may have lacked the intensity of a playoff game, but it did showcase the talent in the eight-team league, July 15.

Some of the best players of the league were divided between two teams and in the end it was the Blue team who came out on top, 119-112.

A three-point shoot out followed that featured one player from each team and included Joshua Keith Emperado of the Cochrane Ballers, who also played for the red squad in the all-star game.

At halftime, rising star Mary Kate Aquino performed. The Calgary singer has been in Cochrane before and is the co-star of a Back 2 Back concert with Daryl Ong in Calgary, Sept. 9.

Meanwhile, Barrio has forced a third game in the championship final series after handing Y2 Welding their first loss of the season. Just who will win the RTAX Cup will be determined in a final matchup, July 29. Game time is 7 p.m.

The Pinoy league continues to grow in popularity and regularly fills the gym at the Airdrie Koinonia Christian School with cheering supporters. The Cochrane Ballers placed third this season and won the league as the DQ team the year previous. It's such a popular sport in Cochrane's thrilling Filipino community that they are considering entering a second team.
