Coaches stressed the Brooks Buffalos reminded them of their own Cochrane Cobras and given the results perhaps they were more likely their younger brother.

The Cobras shut out the Buffalos in the south semifinal tier 3 provincial playoffs, 30-0, on Nov. 11 in Brooks. The win has paved the way for the #1 tier 3 high school football team in Alberta to return home and host the south finals in Cochrane, Nov. 18.

In the other semifinal matchup it was the #2 ranked Cardston Cougars who defeated the Sylvan Lake Lakers, 57-7.

Both victories were largely anticipated and it sets the stage for what should be the closest matchup of the year for the Cobras, who have dominated both in league and exhibition play.

The game starts at 1 p.m. at the SLS Legacy Sports Field.

The winner goes on the Alberta final on Nov. 24 in Lacombe.
