The Cochrane Cobras senior boys basketball team have secured second place in Rocky View division play by trumping the Bert Church Chargers at home last night.

The Cobras grabbed an early and didn't look back in their 87-70 win in their final regular season game that was also their senior night celebration and a Hoops for a Cure fundraiser of CHS Leadership.

The Cobras and Chargers were in a dead heat in the standings going into the game and second place was on the line.

Since losing their season opener against the Chestermere Lakers, the Cobras have remained undefeated in their final four games.

Rocky View playoffs aren't scheduled to start until the last week of February, but the win will give the Cobras home court advantage.

Right now the Cobras are at the Strathmore basketball tournament that plays a large role in their ranking for the zone championships at Airdrie's Bert Church, Mar. 8-9.

The Hoops for a Cure fundraiser was held in support of Kids Cancer Care. The small admission charged for the junior and senior boys games that evening and proceeds of a raffle went to the charity that also operates Camp Kindle. Fun games were also held during the intermissions of both games.
