The Cochrane Ballers are returning to Airdrie Filipino Basketball League (AFBL) action this season.

Mike Bautista, of the Ballers, says the team is now preparing for a month-long tournament in May and have received a major sponsorship from Cochrane Nissan. They will soon be finalizing their lineup and will then begin practices. The team will carry 12 players on its roster.

The AFBL tournament games will be held every Saturday in May at Airdrie's Genesis Place.

The Ballers will also be competing in a Banff tournament.

Basketball is hugely popular in Cochrane's vibrant Filipino community. The Cochrane Ballers previously played in the AFBL and many of their players were part of the 2016 Dairy Queen team that won the league championship in 2016. They were also a strong contender in the 2017 season. They gave league play a rest last year but continued to host their annual Alex Tumang Cochrane Ballers Basketball Showdown.
