Ready, aim, fire.

A young Cochrane archer is packing up his suitcase and getting ready to head to the big city of Las Vegas in February for the International Vegas Shoot. There is expected to be 3000 archers competing for the world titles in their divisions.

With 3000 archers competing, it is the largest competition 14 year old Warren Collins, Competitive Archer, has competed in. This young mans passion for the sport started when his mom bought him a bow for his 11 birthday, and he hasn't stopped improving since.

Collins is the only competitive archer in Cochrane and he says shooting is when he is the most relaxed.

"For me its an art. It's a calming outlet for me. Being in my zone is like meditating for me."

The tournament will consist of target shooting, with small competitions called flights.  He says when competing it is just as much a mental game, as skill, in order to be successful.

"It will all come down to who has the best mental game and preparedness."
