The Cochrane Generals found their comfort zone in their domination of the Coaldale Copperheads last week and they hope that will continue in their two-game home stand this weekend.

Head coach Derek Donald says the team had a big shift in the way they managed their play on the ice and staying loose and having fun was a big part of it.

"We talked about some things and I think we were just trying to push too hard in certain areas and decided we've all got knowledge, skill, talent and work hard, we just needed to refine some things and have a little more fun in what we're doing and loosen up a bit.

"It made the game definitely a lot more fun for the guys and it allowed us to open and be creative, which we weren't really doing before."

There wasn't any real tinkering with the lines and Donald has confidence in their chemistry.

The team hopes to build upon the success here at home against two of the tougher teams in the south division.

"A couple of wins this weekend really changes the dynamics of the standings and puts us in a good place. We're right in there where we need to be, it's a matter of just building on what we did Saturday."

Before then, the Gens will be participating in the Calgary Stampeders game Friday night against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Snow is in the forecast and the team reached out to the Gens and invited them to help keep the lines clear of the white stuff.

"If there's snow, our guys will be running the lines and if there's no snow our guys get to sit and watch the game." says Donald. "For us, it will be a fun way to get our guys together and do a little team building."

The Gens take on the first place Okotoks Bisons on Saturday before hosting the Coaldale Copperheads on Sunday. The puck drops Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday at Totem One in the SLS Family Sports Centre.
