It wasn't the start the Cochrane Generals were hoping for at the Provincial Junior "B" Hockey tournament in St. Albert.

The Gens opened the tourney against the Beaumont Chiefs, dropping a 6 - 5 decision.  Slater Ransom had a pair of goals and an assist in a losing cause.  Colton Wong scored once and picked up an assist while Brandon Aab and Christian Dees scored the other Cochrane goals.

The Generals will try to take their revenge against the Fairview Flyers in their next game, tonight at 7:00.  Fairview also lost their first game of the tournament to Wainwright.

The Red Deer Vipers, who beat out the Generals for the Heritage Junior Hockey League title, won their opener, dumping the host St. Paul Canadiens 4 - 2.
