The Cochrane Generals came away with three points from their two weekend games and are now in a two-way tie for third place with the Coaldale Copperheads in the south division of the Heritage Junior Hockey League.

The Gens lost 6-5 in a shoot out against the Red Deer Vipers, Dec. 2, before bucking the Ponoka Stampeders the next day, 8-2.

The tying goal by the Vipers came with 20 seconds left in regulation, also on a powerplay. The Vipers outscored the Gens 2-1 on the shootout for the win.

The Gens were outshot 39-31 in the matchup for only the second time this season.

It was a four-goal night for the Gens Jared Domingo while Scott Shugg scored the other. Colton Wong and Jordan Fisher both earned a pair of assists and helpers also went to Chris Sambrook, Carter Cugnet and Christan Dees.

The Gens went from playing one of their toughest opponents to face the struggling Stampeders the next day.
