Girls of all ages and experiences are welcome to come try hockey.

On February 19 from 3:30-7 pm, girls between the ages 4-12 years old are invited to come play.

Lorne Bremner, Coach for PeeWee Female Hockey, says this is the perfect opportunity for those girls who have always wanted to give it a shot.

"They don't have to have any experience or they can be experienced, coming from ringette or figure skating or whatever, we take all shapes and sizes. Whatever groupings we have, we will group by age and divide by three and group by skill level so no one's going to be out there getting run over by someone with more experience."

Bremner is hoping some Chaos and midget players will join the girls on the ice as well, saying the more girls the better.

Female hockey is growing in Cochrane and Bremner adds while he would love the all-girl league to take off, growth has its challenges.

"We're going to try. We can only grow so much with the ice time."

Girls Hockey Day is a fun filled, energetic, free event but pre-registration is required.
