It was another successful competition for the Cochrane Skating Club.

Approximately 400 skaters competed from clubs across the province in the Central Region Open held in Rocky Mountain House this past weekend (February 24-26).

Cochrane Skating Club had nine skaters (STAR 1 through STAR 3 levels) participate in the competition and had an incredibly strong showing receiving 1 gold, 6 silvers, and 1 bronze.

Coach Beth Allison says the girls did amazingly well, considering they are younger skaters.

"These are some of our younger skaters, they did really great we have been working really hard to prepare and everyone skated really well, better than expected. So it was really nice to see all your hard work as coaches go to use. I was really proud of all of them."

Next up for the Cochrane Skating Club is the Calgary Winter Invitational March 10-12 where 8 senior skaters will compete, March 19 the Cochrane Swift Edges will attend the Edmonton Synchronized Skating Invitational, and near the end of March STARSkate will occur in Airdrie.
