The Grizzlies roar could be heard all over Cochrane on Saturday.

The Cochrane men’s tier 2 rugby team dominated the Hornets in a 75-3 win Saturday afternoon at the Bears Den (Mitford Pond). The only points scored against them was on a penalty kick.

Anthony D’Amico, Connor Gilbert and Ian Schultz played especially well considering jet lag from playing with the Wolf Pack at B.C. Place late Friday night, then making it back to Cochrane for the 2 p.m. KO. Despite playing back-to-back matches in different provinces, Ian Schultz still managed to sidestep his way down the field for five tries.

Coach Ty Hawes was delighted with how the team came back on to the pitch with all cylinders firing after a small break from regular season games.

“The boys played really well and came out with a bang after being off for two weeks.”

The undefeated Grizzlies are currently sitting first in the division and will be taking the home field again this Saturday, matching up against both the second and third tier Lethbridge teams. The tier 3 Baabaas play at 12 noon and the Grizz at 1:45 p.m.
