A huge 9-8 overtime win for the Rocky View Silvertips over the Okotoks Mauraders has kept the team's hopes alive for a second place finish in the Jr. B central division of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League

The Marauders fought back from a 6-4 deficit heading into the third and tied the match twice, forcing overtime with a goal with 1.1 seconds remaining on the clock.

The Tips dominated in overtime and Hall Griffen put in the winner 1:48 minutes in sudden death from Colby Gulutzan and Matthew Dyck.

Now in the final weekend of the regular season, it was a good turn around for the club and keeps them in the fight against the Calgary Chill for second place and home court advantage in the central division semifinals, expected to start next week.

"We have played much better than the last couple of weeks," says Tips Head Coach Tyler Waycott. "This week during practice we were able to work on the little thing that we wanted to put us back on the right track,  so it's definitely a step in the right direction."

It was the only meeting between the Tips and Mauraders this year. With a third-place finish in the south division, the Marauders will be facing the Mountaineers in their divisional semifinals.

The Tips are at home for their final regular season game this Sunday, July 15 and it's an important game for both teams. They're taking on the north division-leading Edmonton Warriors who need the win to wrap up first in their division. Game time is 1 p.m. at the SLS Family Sports Centre.

"It should be a good game, says Waycott. "I'm looking forward to seeing what the top squad out of Edmonton looks like."

Matthew Dyck scored two and assisted on the winner. League stats have him at an impressive 52 points in nine games.
