The Jr. Ladies Silvertips get a break after a hectic schedule in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League (RMLL) that saw them play five games in the first few weeks and has left their bench short due to injuries.
The Tips are 2-3 in their first five games and had the daunting challenge of taking on the league dominating Sherwood Park Titans, May 12, during the weekend showcase at the Plainsman Arena in Airdrie. The Titans doubled the Tips, 8-4.
Injuries and a short bench hurt the Tips in their 15-2 loss to Calgary Cougars, May. 14.
"We even had one of our goalies, Mikayla Miller, play out as a runner," says Tips manager Heather Greenan. "Payton Gammon played in goal and made a series of fantastic saves, but our players were exhausted after the first period running both offence and defence so we slipped rather badly. Hopefully, we will start getting our players healthy and have them out soon. "
The Tips hit the road to challenge the Edmonton Drillers, May 26, before their rematch with the Titans in Sherwood Park the next day.
