Younger curlers got their first crack at hosting a bonspiel at the new Phillips Curling Centre and the accolades continue to roll in for the new facility.

Twelve U18 teams, four from Cochrane, and six U15 teams, one from Cochrane, tested the near-arena condition ice, Dec. 1-3, in the annual bonspiel hosted by the Cochrane Curling Club.

"The new club received some great exposure from the 18 teams that attended our U18/U15 Junior Spiel and comments about our facility as a whole were great," says Larry Cinnamon who head's the juniors for the Cochrane Curling Club. "Kudos to the icemaking staff that does a tremendous job. We had nothing but praise for them."

In U15, the 'A' event winner was Team Kiist with runner-up Team Raniseth. The 'B' winners were from Cochrane, Team Isinghood, and Team Johnston was runner-up.

In U18, the 'A' winner were Team MacKinnon and Team Hill, from Cochrane, was the runner-up. Third place went to Team Crough and Team Thangadurai came fourth.

Team Wipf was the 'B' event winner with Team Hainstock coming second. Third place went to Team Cinnamon, of Cochrane, and Team Molnar came fourth.
