Over one hundred participants of all ages came out to support Martin Parnell's 'Free to Run' on New Year's Eve.

The seventh annual run saw 112 runners/ walkers hit the ground covering 1058 kms in support of a cause near and dear to Parnell.

"It is for the girls at the Markaz High School in Bamyan, Afghanistan we are looking to fix up their volleyball court. When I was over there a couple of months ago I visited the school and it was just like rubble. The girls were doing their best but the court was just not good; the nets were all ripped, and the posts were all bent, so we are trying to resurface and set up the volleyball nets and also add basketball nets just something for the girls who really want to do sports and play."

Free to Run to date has raised $4412 of its $5000 goal,  Parnell says online donations will continue to be accepted until the end of this week.

"We are hoping to hit it by this upcoming Sunday (January 8) if people want to go to www.martinparnell.com, and hit the big red donate button we will see if we can hit the $5000."

Parnell has raised 1.3 million dollars in total for youth both locally and internationally to be physically active and enjoy the love of sport.
