Today, Cochrane's Tristan Walker and Justin Snith are making their last two training runs on the luge track in PyeongChang, just one day away from the day they've set their sights on for the last four years.

The Canadian doubles sliders will be taking to the track on Wednesday morning at 4:20 a.m. our time. In two runs, they hope to land their first Olympic medal in the event in their third attempt over the last 12 years.

On Thursday, they are also part of Canada's luge relay team taking to the track at 5:30 a.m.

Earlier today, women's luger Alex Gough became the first Canadian to medal in luge. She claimed bronze in this morning's final that saw Germany's Natalie Geisenberger successfully defended her gold medal. On Sunday, slider Sam Edney ended his luge career with a sixth-place finish, the best ever performance by a Canadian in the men's single event.

Smith and Snith have been building momentum on the World Cup circuit in preparation for tomorrow. They finished fourth in last year's Olympics in Sochi as a follow up to their debut Olympics in Vancouver in 2010.

Coming into the Olympics, the Canadian relay team finished third place on the World Cup circuit season. Edney, Gough, Smith and Snith formed the team.
