Cochrane’s Dillon Dube has had an impressive pre-season with the Calgary Flames and team officials will be taking one more look at the talented player today.

The Flames are in Edmonton for their final preseason game in an afternoon matchup and Dube is expected to be in the lineup along with other potential rookies.

"I don't think we're going to see opening night rosters either way," said Flames head coach Bill Peters said following the Flames' practice in San Jose on Friday afternoon. "What I think you're going to see is young guys trying to make one final impression."

That’s exactly what Dube has been doing in the preseason play, using every moment to prove why he belongs in the lineup when the regular season opens for the Flames next Wednesday in Vancouver.

“The higher you get the confidence, the higher you’ll play,” said Dube, going into the Sharks game. “It’s always good. You get a little get a little nervous when the team gets closer and closer to the opening night, but I think it’s good to have that pressure.”

His wealth of experience in Canadian and international play is proving invaluable.

“When you have seven games in a tournament you learn how to get up for every game and I’ve been taking that same mindset for these seven games in pre-season. “

In Thursday’s win on the road against the San Jose Sharks, Dube was teamed up with Derek Ryan and James Neil and once again caught the eye of the Flames boss.

"Dube's a guy who knows how to play and can play in all situations. And I like the fact that he gives our lineup pace," said Peters during a post-game interview.
