Spring must be close!

Registration has started for the 2017 season of outdoor soccer in Cochrane.  Dawn Calvin, the office administrator for Cochrane Minor Soccer says registration started February 15 and will continue until all the programs are full.

Calvin explains, "We have three different streams of soccer players.  We have our Grassroot players which is our under three year olds all the way up to U12's.  We have development players that have more of a technical side to their learning and they're U8's, 10's and 12's, and then we have our tiered league teams that play in Calgary and they're a more competitive teams, right up to U18's."

Calvin is expecting the usual big turnout of players.  "We usually get around 900 players for the spring season.  It's about triple what we get for indoor soccer."

Calvin says while they always have a large number of returning coaches, they can always use more.  "We have a lot of the same coaches but we're always looking for more, and referees.  We provide training for that."  Anyone interested in either of those positions can call the office, 403 932-5425 (KICK) or email info@932kick.com.

The group tries to accomodate people worried about being able to afford to put their kids in the sport by offering a payment system.  Calvin says, "We offer payment plans.  They can make an initial payment online and they get a reminder every month what is left owing on their account.  For families we know are having difficulties paying, we also offer help through the Jumpstart program and Kidsport.  We just want to keep the kids playing."

The outdoor soccer season begins April 24th in Cochrane.  Registration can be done online at 932kick.com
