The Cochrane Piranhas will get a short reprieve from competing this weekend.

Despite having an intense couple weeks with back to back swim meets and a vigorous training regime, the Piranhas once again ranked excellent.

Forty Cochrane swimmers out of 367 ASSA Region E swimmers competed in Okotoks over the weekend (June 22-23) at their third meet. Coach, Breanna Hendriks, says she was proud of how well they all did when you consider all they have been through. "It was a hard meet because we're so tired from the previous month training and the last meet in a series of meets. I was really proud of them all because it was very tough and they did a lot of longer events as well."

Hendriks shares many younger/beginner swimmers competed in the 100 m Butterfly for the first time while others debuted in the 400 Freestyle. Having no meet on the long weekend does not mean the swimmers get to take it easy. "Because they have a break for the long weekend, I have to get in as much training this week as I can. The following week after the long weekend we have four swim meets in a row until the August long, so we've got to get it in."
