After a flurry of hits, runs and outs, Cochrane Minor Ball (CMB) teams are getting down to the nitty-gritty of playoffs.

The Cochrane Emergency Training Services Crush senior team kicks off their playoffs at home today, June 16, against Cal East at the Rodeo South diamond. Sunday the Propak Senior Crush play Foothills 2 at Rodeo South and the Intermediates play Calgary Northwest on Rodeo North. All games start at 1 p.m.

Playoff action resumes Tuesday, June 19 with the two senior Crush teams facing each other, NikStar Promotions Crush taking on Bow Valley and the IDEAL IRepair Jr. Tier 1 Crush playing Centennial.

CMB president Corey O'How says all the rep teams have a good chance of doing well in the playoffs.

House league playoffs will be in full swing from June 22 to 24 on Cochrane ball diamonds after wrapping up their regular season this weekend. The Major House League teams will be playing at the Gleneagles diamond on Friday, June 22 and Saturday, June 23. Minor House teams will be playing at the Matt Kroll Diamonds on Sat. June 23 and Sun. June 24.

CMB's tee ball and coach pitch playoffs are on Sat. June 23 at Glenbow and the Rodeo Grounds Diamonds.

"It's been a pretty good season so far and hopefully the weather stays nice for next weekend," says O'How.

Summer Minor Ball

The spring season may be winding down but right behind it is summer play. The Major AA Team is heading to Medicine Hat on June 23-24 for their first weekend of the season and the Minor AA Team is in Airdrie on the Canada Day Weekend.

Both teams are also participating in tournaments in Montana in July making it a full season of play right up to the August Long Weekend finals.

"This is the first year we've done it," says O'How.  It's just something different, something fun for the kids, something to promote ball in Cochrane. They're pretty excited."

Cochrane Toros

Meanwhile, the Cochrane Toros of the Calgary North Baseball League are wrapping up their regular season here on Saturday night against Chestermere.

The Toros have a 9-1-1 record going into the game and is poised to finish first in the regular season of the 13-team league. Chestermere has been struggling this season and has a 2-9 record going into the game.

Should the game be rained out, the Toros would finish first based upon their win percentage.
