The Cochrane Piranhas have wrapped up their 2017 swim season.

Twenty three Piranhas qualified to attend the 2017 ASSA Provincials in Edmonton this past weekend (August 18-20). More than 1100 swimmers from across the province came to compete in the weekend competition.

Breanna Hendriks, Head Coach, says the swimmers did a great job and once again some achieved personal bests. "It's hard sometimes for the swimmers because it is a different format than Regionals, you just get to swim your swim once so you really have to step it up that first time. So I think the kids did a great job, still a lot of best times even though lots of them got best time last weekend as well, so they are improving on them even more. So it was a good swim meet."

Despite maybe a couple swimmers wishing they could have tweaked their swim, Hendriks, shares the kids were happy with the results. "I think everybody for the most part was pleased; there might have been a couple races individually that they feel they could have improved on one thing or another but you never really have a perfect race. There is always something to work on and from a coach standpoint I think everyone did an awesome job of pulling it together especially under pressure and performing their best."

Hendriks, states that they are firming up details as to how many swimmers will be accepted next year. "Kind of what that whole plan looks like because next year we'll be starting in the new pool so it will be quite different."
