A couple of the Cochrane Rangers are making a huge difference for some Cuban soccer players.

Rangers Soccer Club members Paul Tas and Garry Tether came up with a very cool idea for their used jerseys and soccer balls.

Last year Tether, who volunteers with the Bow Valley Baptist Church, travelled to Cuba to do some construction work came up with the idea of taking the used sports equipment.

Tas, Cochrane Rangers president is thrilled to be sending over equipment for the second year and has organized 30-40 soccer balls and old jerseys to head to Cuba.

Tether mentions the rural area they have chosen to go to is very poor, but very safe and is like going back to the 1950s.  The seven men travelling from Cochrane will be bringing roughly 15 suitcases full of office supplies, tools, toiletries, painkillers, office supplies and of course the soccer equipment. He says that it is like Christmas for these kids when they bring the soccer balls out.

"They are just elated about it, and so are the adults. They like to play too."
