The Jr. Ladies Silvertips team dropped to four place in a tight regular season race but that's all behind them and they are now preparing for the provincials.

Only the top four teams in the league make the grade to compete against the best in the province and the Silvertips repeatedly their fourth place finish of last year's inaugural season. They were already guaranteed a playoff berth before losing their last two games at home at the Plainsmen Arena last weekend.

On June 23, a break out five-goal second period gave the older Sr. Cougars the buffer they needed to go on to win 11-6. Christina Olver scored for the Tips from Rovanna Irvin and goalie Payton Gammon.

What hurt was the second when the Cougars gained an 8-3 lead. Christina Olver scored from a rebound, and a power play goal scored by Erin Greenan assisted by Cassidy McRae.

Both teams scored three in the third with Tips goals coming from Lauren Murphy, Taylor McElroy and  Callie Hanger.

The second-place Edmonton Saints took a 7-1 by the end of the first and won the June 25 match, 16-8. Murphy scored the Tips lone goal of the first on a short-handed breakaway.

The Saints outscored the Tips 5-4 in the second to take a 12-5 lead. Tips goals were score by Irvin from Raegan Burkholder, Kara Kondrat assisted by goalie Mikayla Miller, Annie Morrison assisted by Dione Wearmouth and Lauren Murphy on a breakaway.

Kondrat scored three in the third for the Tips with two assists going to Morrison and one to Cassidy McRae.

The Tips finished the season with a 8-6-1 record and were one point behind the Okotoks Raiders in the standings.

The Provincials are being hosted in Sherwood Park, July 7-9. It's home of the undefeated Jr. Titans who have won the last six consecutive provincial championships and 10 in their 11-year history.

In other lacrosse news, the Jr. 'B' Silvertips are at home this weekend at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre with a Friday night game against the Chill and Sunday matchup with the Jr. Mounties. The Tips are 2-10 coming into the weekend play.
