The Junior 'B' Rocky View Silvertips lacrosse team is ready to roll and build upon the success of last season.

The team that features four Cochrane players will be taking on the Jr. Mounties in their season opener at the Plainsmen Arena in Airdrie on Apr. 28. They split their home games between the Plainsman and SLS Family Sport Centre and play their first game here on May. 26.

On Apr. 19, they played an exhibition game here against the older Senior 'B' Rockyview Knights in what has become an annual pre-season game. It presents a good challenge for the Silvertips, says head coach Cam Foss.

"There's a ton of skill there, guys who played on the Roughnecks, older guys, stronger guys, so it's a really good test for some of our young guys."

Foss says there's a good balance of players on the Silvertips this season.

"We've got a good mix of returning guys, really high skill guys, a good group of rookies we added and then just a good group of cool guys, so we're right through the whole spectrum there."

The Silvertips initial goal is to return to the playoffs of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.

"We're just trying to build off of last year season. We made the playoffs last year and this year we're looking to again make the playoffs and then go from there."

Cam Foss has taken the reigns as the head coach and is joined on the bench by defensive coach Ryan McBride. Former head coach and NLL alumni Joel Henry has joined the Jr. A Mounties to give chase to the Minto Cup.

On the team from Cochrane are Tanner Lam, Nolan Morrison, Paulo Falzi and Ben Kilbride.
