Snap Dance Studios is not only a flurry of activity during the week but weekends as well.

Whether dancers are learning solos, class routines, or preparing for an upcoming trip to Disneyland/Las Vegas the dancers and instructors are putting in the time to learn steps and routines to delight adjudicators and crowds alike.

Courtney Sproule, Studio Director, shares currently they have over 400 dancers registered in programs which could grow to over 500 by the end of the season. Learning the routines for upcoming performances are going well and the numbers are rolling right along thanks to some late summer intensive programming. "This summer we did some intensive where we brought in a Rockette and someone from Vancouver and Alberta Ballet so it really all started there because we started to do some choreography for the competitive teams, which is nice. I think everything is really shaping up to be ready for March this year."

An upcoming March fundraiser will allow onlookers to have a sneak peek at the studio's travelling Disney performance where 27 dancers will take part in a bi-annual trip. "We offer it every other year because for me I think it is such an amazing opportunity. The kids learn so many things from being responsible for their costumes, plus all the things dance brings like learning the steps and having to perform, and the team building. For me, those are the moments I remember; I have lots of medals in my basement and they're great, but the travel part is such an important part to offer the kids."

While travelling provides a great opportunity, Snap dancers also showcase their skills in many community events such as the Rock the Waves Community Celebration, Farmers Markets, trade shows and the upcoming Santa Claus Parade. Sproule shares giving back to the community is also important to the dance family. "I think teaching the lesson of being part and helping the community is another important lesson to teach our kids. They practice hard and they work hard for that and then they get to go out and perform and be part of the community and entertain the community."

Coming into December, Snap will be offering holiday camps to allow some alone time for busy parents to shop and some promotions for giving the gift of dance.

Ten-week semester courses will begin in January for dancers not wanting to be committed for a full year or those seeking a non-competitive program. Information on December holiday camps and January programs can be found here.
