The offensive coaching techniques of Cochrane High coach Rob McNab continue to attract interest and he’s starting to become a regular on the speaking circuit.

The first-ever editions of the acclaimed Nike Coach of the Year Coaching Clinic are coming to Canada this spring and McNab is among the guest speakers at the Calgary event.

“I’ve spoken on a few things now, but this is huge,” says McNab.

Up to 22 sessions will be held at the Mar. 1-2 clinic lead by football coaches from USports, NCAA, CFL high school programs.

“In Calgary, you’ll probably see guys attending from all over Alberta, B.C. Saskatchewan and the Northern States,” says McNab.

Confirmed to speak so far, besides McNab, are: Nathaniel Willingham and Greg Mangan, Stanford University; Elisha 'Cadillac' Harris, Indian River High School, Virginia; Pat DelMonaco and Corey Mace, of the Calgary Stampeders; Ryan Sheahan and Marcello Rapini, of the University of Calgary; Brent Korte, University of Alberta and Dave Diluzio, Notre Dame High School, Calgary.

Last spring, McNab lead a session on football culture at the University of Calgary and at the Canadian Football Academy he spoke for over three hours on passing strategies.

At the Nike session, he will likely focus his presentation on passing plays you should include in your offensive package.

McNab enjoys the opportunity and believes it helps attract players new to the area to settle in the capture area of Cochrane High.

“We are contacted by people moving from Calgary to Cochrane all the time who want to know where to land. The parents are getting good at it.”

The Nike seminars are held across the States and members of the Cochrane Cobras staff have attended them in the past. This year they’re attending the Vegas clinic in February.

Eleven of the clinics will be held in the States in preparation for the 2019 football season and the first Canadian one will be held in Niagara Falls, ON in February.

Legendary coaches Bud Wilkinson and Duffy Daugherty founded the clinics more than 40 years ago.
