Cam Cote wants to show a little love to the linemen of the Bow Valley Bobcats.

Calgary Stamps offensive linemen Brad Erdos and Dan Federkeil are at Bow Valley High on Wednesday and Thursday after school to lead a linesmen clinic for tier IV provincial championship.

"I wanted to put this together to show the linemen that they're important," says Cote, one of the team's head coaches.. "The linemen are the forgotten group on a football team. You never really see a specialty linemen camp."

He's thrilled the two veteran players agreed to lend a hand.

"We're very fortunate to have two very high level guys who excel at the position to come out and show these kids," says Cote.

Just a few days after the clinic the Bobcats open a two-week spring camp as they take the first steps in preparing for their fall season.

"This is going to be a fun one because we host Springbank of Saturday after the first week and then we go to Croxford for a jamboree at the end of the second week."

The school's football program has been gaining a renewed interest among the school's athletes and while winning the championship likely had an impact, it's not the end all, be all for the team.

"You can't play sport and you can't coach sport just for the win but it's sure nice when you get them  Everyone worked really hard and we earned and very much deserved the provincial championship from what we did last year and it's going to be fun to see the guys come back together and build from that. I've seen a bunch of the guys and everyone is excited to strap on the equipment and go play football again."

While the team will be losing their veteran grade 12 players, they have a strong core of both grade 10 and 11 athletes returning from last year and the word is several grade 12 athletes who haven't played on the team before are thinking about joining.

"We just have a lot of fun together, the coaches, the players," says Cote. "It's just nice to get back together."
