December had already been a landmark month for the Cochrane Generals' Talus Hume before he was named the Heritage Junior Hockey League's 1st Star for the month of December today.

Hume, 21, led all players with 20 points (10-10-20) in seven games during the month of December. He recorded at least one point in six-of-seven games, while also producing a pair of five-point outings and one six-point performance. The Cochrane product is currently tied for second in HJHL scoring with 50 points (21-29-50) in 24 games.

Earlier in December he scored his 100th goal and was named to the HJHL's south division all-star team.

There's many milestones being reached by Gens veterans this season and another one unfolds tonight. Team captain Austin Keller will be playing his 200th game since joining the Gens. It's believed to be the most by a player in the club's history. Keller is in his sixth and final season and became a General in 2012.

The Gens are at home tonight against the Coaldale Copperheads in a two-game home stand. They are hosting the Medicine Hat Cubs for the first time this season on Saturday night. The puck drops for both games at 7:30 p.m.

Wins are crucial for the Gens to stay in contention for first in the south division. It's a tight race in the south, particularly between the top four. Okotoks currently leads the division, followed by High River, Cochrane and Coaldale.

Sunday it's off to the all-star game in Okotoks for three Generals. Slater Ransom, Hume and Keller are all in the lineup. Game time is 1:15 p.m. at the Murray Arena.
