The St. Timothy High School's senior girls soccer team continues to be a force in division 3 in the Calgary Catholic High School Sports and won silver in the City Championships for the third straight season.

The Thunder went undefeated in their six regular season games heading into the championship and came up short against St. Gabriel in a tough final at the Calgary Soccer Centre, Oct. 20.

The Thunder had two shutouts in their playoff pool leading up to the final. They defeated John G. Diefenbaker in the quarterfinals, 5-0, before a 2-0 win over Bowness in the semifinals before losing the final. 7-2.

"We had an awesome season," says Head Coach Kevin MacLellan. "We were undefeated in our regular season and had some great playoff games and just came up short in the City Final, but it was an all-around great year."

Coming into the season, MacLellan said he wasn't sure how the team would gel, but once again they proved why they continue to be one top contenders in division 3.

While they'll be losing a solid core of grade 12s for the next season, that's all part of high school sports.

"They'll have big shoes to fill, but sports is about is creating that and having the opportunity for the younger girls to rise up and fill the ranks."
