After losing the first game of the south division finals, the Chaos fought back to tie the series against the Central Alberta Amazons.

That has set the stage for a rubber match tonight, Mar. 12, to determine who advances to the provincial final of the Alberta Junior Female Hockey League (AJFHL).

The Amazons won the series opener at home, 4-1, on Mar. 9.

"We outshot them 35-10 in the first two periods and then we came out flat in the third and they scored two quick ones," says Chaos head coach Derek Loomer. "We just couldn't claw our way back,"

Game Two here in Cochrane saw the teams tied 2-2 at the end of one. The Chaos opened up a 5-3 lead at the 40-minute mark. The Amazons made it a one-goal game late in the third but despite pressuring the Chaos were unable to score an equalizer.

Loomer says the Chaos were more aggressive deep in the Amazons' zone in Game Two.

"They were hard-fought battles and when we had the chance to shoot or win a battle in there, we were hammering the pucks in tight.  In some other games, we get in there and are too polite. Today we just say no, we're going to hammer it and that made the difference."

Loomer expects tonight's game to be close between the two south rivals.

"I expect it to be a hard 60 minute, one goal, two goal game again. Our girls will be ready and we'll see how it turns out."

Game time is 7:45 p.m. in Totem One.

The AJFHL north division final is also deadlocked at one win apiece for both the defending champion Sherwood Park Steele and Edmonton Wolves. Game three in that series goes Wednesday night.
