It was a season of learning for the  U12 Cochrane Cubs team and by the end of the season they proved to be good students and finished at the top of the heap with a gold medal.

The Cubs won the Calgary City Championship for tier 3 U12 fastpitch at a year-end tournament, June 16-18. The Cubs won three of their four games in the double elimination round, then beat the South Bow River team, 16-6, in the final.

Cubs head coach Chris Alexander says most of the players were in their first year in the division or new to fastpitch and they continued to improve as the year progressed.

"It was really a learning group of kids and most of the girls were 10 playing against 11 almost 12 year old girls," he explains. "During the season we probably lost more than we won and then at the year end it just all came together and they had a great tournament."
