The Cochrane Generals let the shots fly but when the dust settled the Blackfalds Wranglers came out on top, 3-2, in Saturday night's matchup at Totem One.

A blast from by point by Austin Keller put the Gens on the scoreboard early in the first with a powerplay goal, but the Wranglers tied it up four minutes later to end the period in a 1-1 draw.

The Wranglers took a 2-1 lead in the second before Braden Bain connected from Austin Keller and Radek McGuire early in the third to briefly tie the score. The Wranglers scored the eventual game winner less than a minute later.

The push was on for most of the third and the Gens riddled Wranglers goalie Brann Lane with shots but none found the gap. Shots on goal were a lopsided 48-29 in favour of the Gens.

Some key veterans were missing from the local junior 'B' team's lineup, including lead scorer Slater Ransom and firecracker Colton Wong.

In their first five games, Blackfalds has only lost one to the Airdrie Techmation Thunder, who currently lead the north division. Meanwhile the Gens have fallen to a multi-team cluster of second place teams in a division that has parity in the early goings.

The Gens continue their home stand against the Red Deer Vipers today at the SLS Family Sports Centre. The puck drops at 5:30 p.m.
