If you are thinking of adding a furry friend to your home, the holiday season can be a great time.

The Cochane and Area Humane Society is running at triple capacity these days with

Jaimie Anton, Fund Development Officer and Education Coordinator, says they have a full house right now. "We have about 80 puppies in foster that will be coming up for adoption probably in the next two weeks and into January based on age, about 60 kittens that are going to be looking for homes some of which are already available  for adoption, we are over 100 cats that need homes, we are about 250+ animals so triple capacity essentially."

If you are thinking of adding a pet to your home, the Christmas season can be a good time as long as you have asked yourself some questions, shares Anton. "It can be a good time because you are home a little bit more, people are off work and on holidays. Just be aware and have a conversation about how busy you are in your home and if you will have a quiet spot for your new little furry friend."

A cat and rabbit adoption event is on now until December 12th. "Cats 6 months and older are $25 and same with our rabbits, I believe we are sitting at 11 rabbits right now."

A Christmas Party and Open House will be held today (December 9) from noon until 5 pm and will include a craft and bake sale, holiday photos, marketplace and the opportunity to buy a gift for a shelter animal.
