A complaint regarding an attempted stolen vehicle yesterday (December 2) escalated to a point which saw Cochrane RCMP call in the Emergency Response Team for assistance.

Just before 2:30 yesterday afternoon, RCMP say they received a call that a male armed with a firearm was attempting to steal a vehicle at a rural residence in Rocky View County but once on scene, it was observed the male suspect had broken into the residence.

Although periodic communications with police led the suspect to eventually throw the firearm out the window, numerous attempts for the suspect to surrender were ignored.

With the help of the Emergency Response Team, the suspect was eventually taken into custody and no injuries were had in the incident.

An Edmonton male is currently in custody facing multiple weapons and property related charges and his identity will be released once sworn in.
