If you were planning to be part of the design team for the new Cochrane Dollar, you shouldn't put it off much longer.

Midnight Sunday (February 12) is the final deadline to weigh in with the personality you think should be on the bill's front and the Cochrane landmark that should go on the back.

On thewebsite you'll find a selection of iconic Cochrane personalities and places that you can choose for the dollar design or you can write in a person or place you feel should be considered.

Rob Kalinovich, Cochrane Economic Development Officer says between Sunday night's deadline, and the official unveiling of the currency May 19th, a lot of work will take place behind the scenes.

"This is really where the hands on work happens.  Not only the designing of the bills but everything else to go around the bills, the infrastructure that's needed to be sure this project is well used and accepted and understood in the community." Kalinovich went on to explain, "Part of that is educational materials and videos and promotional materials, and then all the players that are involved and building the security features into the bills."

The final details of the launch are still being worked out, but the community of Cochrane will be very much involved, according to Kalinovich.  "This is a community project, so we want to have as much of the community involved as we can."

Kalinovich says the business community seems to be on board.  He says "all the businesses I've spoken with so far have been unanimously positive."

People can watch CochraneDollar.ca over the next couple of months for updates on the project.
