Last evening (August 16), Cochrane RCMP responded to a robbery complaint at a West Valley area pub.

Constable Kary Moore, shares just after midnight the call came in. "The suspect entered the pub after the pub had closed, presented a weapon to the clerk and demanded cash. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and couple bottles of liquor."

Owner of the business shares one of her staff members handled it very well. "It took all of 5 minutes, I had just walked out the door and she was leaving right behind me and before I made it to my house she was already calling me and had already called 911."

The staff member did not recognize the suspect but was able to provide RCMP with enough detail for a sketch.

Although the worker was not injured in the robbery, the business will still look at offering her support if she needs it.

Cst. Moore shares charges are pending in the investiagtion but the youth's name will not be released.

While this isn't an anomaly to RCMP, Cst. Moore says it is a little alarming that the suspect is under 18.The owner shared a similar sentiment saying it could be a sign of the times.

"The new drugs in new times, are causing new challenges."
