Last Tuesday and Wednesday (June 12 and 13th) Cochrane RCMP along with members from Search and Rescue teams in Cochrane, Didsbury, Foothills and Calgary conducted another ground search in hopes of finding any clues that may lead to locating missing Calgarian, Sara Coates.

Thirty-two-year-old Coates went missing back in 2012; while it was originally a Calgary missing person file when Coates vehicle turned up in Morley the year after, Cochrane RCMP inherited the case.

Cochrane RCMP, Corporal Troy Savinkoff says every year they conduct an annual search in hopes to find anything that may lead them to solve the case. "Every year I have been trying to do a media release on her. Last year when we did a search, we did a second search of the area where her van was found and this year we searched another area with 50 volunteers on Tuesday (June 13) and 35 volunteers on Wednesday (June 14). The areas searched were part of a larger search plan identified after previous searches. We felt that by going to these locations at this time of the year we would maximize our effectiveness."

Cpl. Savinkoff goes on to say that Cochrane RCMP is not giving up on the missing case. "You never know, last year after we did a media release after our search we actually did get phone calls and good ones from people with information. It is always one of those things...hopefully somebody just sees it and is willing to talk about what they know. We know a lot more this year than we did last year because of that media release."

Sara Coates was last seen in Calgary's Stanley Park area and was said to be travelling with a boxer (dog) and three cats to Columbia Valley in British Columbia.

If you have any information involving the disappearance of Sara Coates you are asked to call the Cochrane detachment at 403-851-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Savinkoff makes the last comment, "We have not forgotten about Sara and will continue to make every effort to find her."
