An Edmonton MLA is looking for feedback on ending Daylight Savings Time.

NDP MLA Thomas Dang is looking to hear from all Albertans on whether we eliminate bi- annual clock changes, and if so, do we stick with Mountain Standard Time or Central Stand Time.

Banff- Cochrane MLA Cameron Westhead says the government is hoping everyone completes the survey.

"I encourage everyone to have their say there is a lot of implications both pro and con in making a change. Something of this significance that affects everyone's daily life twice a year; we want to make sure we are hearing from people and what they would prefer."

Westhead says pros of doing away with the time change are less accidents associated with changing the clocks, people's circadian rhythm is not interrupted, and livestock productivity would be less impacted. For cons it depends on which time zone we align with.

"I think potentially if we were different and off sync with British Columbia that is something that would need to be considered. I have also heard that liquor sales in summer can change potentially depending on daylight hours as people are not interested in sitting on patios out at night if if it is dark."

MLA Westhead is just starting to receive feedback from constituents and most have been in favour of eliminating a clock change.

All information gathered will go to MLA Dang and a proposed bill could be drafted for March.

To take the survey go here, it will remain open until February 28.
