A rally will occur tomorrow evening for those opposed to a recent decision made by town council.

On March 13, council unanimously voted to pull the leash on dog park plans on the north side of Quigley Drive along the pipeline corridor.

Although plans for the park have not been scrapped altogether, administration has been told to look at the south of Quigley Drive along the pipeline corridor. Council will review both plans in June before making a final decision; news that council voted down the original proposal has some community members saying council made a short sighted decision.

After Town Council received a number of complaints regarding the original proposal the plans were tossed, despite the fact that the consultation period (March 19) had not ended.

While community members directly impacted by the original proposed dog park are relieved there is a growing number of residents who are taking a stand to say enough is enough.

Besides raising awareness to the lack of off leash areas Cochrane has centrally, and in new communities, community members such as Jim Uffelmann are wishing council would abide their own public engagement policy, "the town needs more engagement from more people NOT to disregard large engagements from the community. "

The original site was designated after community wide engagement back in 2012, and many feel council's recent decision has not included input from ALL stakeholders.

The rally is set to occur tomorrow evening (March 23) from 7- 8:30 pm at the original proposed site (north of Quigley Drive along pipeline corridor), everyone is welcome to show their support including your leashed four legged furry friend.
