A 21-year-old male from Calgary will face the Cochrane Provincial Court on August 14th after being charged with numeral offences.

Just before 9 am yesterday (July 15), Cochrane RCMP responded to complaints of a silver Honda Civic driving erratically with the driver seen striking his head in an apparent way to stay awake

Cochrane RCMP, Constable Jennifer Brewer says they located the vehicle near exit 143 on Highway 1 headed west. "The male driver was asleep behind the wheel and the RCMP members could smell liquor in the vehicle. The members had to wake the driver and upon speaking to him in the police vehicle they believed him to be impaired by alcohol and also found brass knuckles in his pocket."

In a subsequent search of the Civic, RCMP found 6.82 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine, 19.71 grams of a substance believed to be Crack Cocaine, 20 doses of a substance believed to be LSD and drug paraphernalia.

Cst. Brewer says besides three counts of possession of a controlled substance he also faces other charges. "He was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, impaired operation of a motor vehicle over 80 mg of alcohol and unauthorized possession of a weapon."

His name is not being released at this time.
