A fire which occurred in Sunset Ridge around 11:15 a.m. today (April 3) was kept to minimal damage.

Jeff Avery, Fire Prevention Officer, says thanks to the fast responding crew, the damage was not too bad. "It definitely had potential to be a big fire but fire crews got there in really good time. When they arrived, there was smoke in the building and the building had been evacuated."

Once inside the suite, Avery, shares the crew dealt with quite a bit of smoke, a little bit of water but not a whole lot of damage. "When we investigated it, it looks like a coffee grinder was left on the stove and then the stove got accidentally turned on and melted the grinder."

At this time there is no estimate of damage but the fire was contained to the lone condo unit, sprinklers never went off and luckily no one was injured.
