Cochrane's new Fireside K-7 school continues to be on track for completion in November, according to Alberta Infrastructure.

Tracy Larsen, a spokesperson for Alberta Infrastructure, says the completion deadline continues to be November after its anticipated Sept. 5 opening was quashed by construction delays.

"Right now work inside is underway, which includes painting, flooring, ceilings, millwork, and outside they're working on the cladding," says Larsen. "The landscape is expected to be completed later this summer."

According to Larsen, it is up to the school board to determine when Fireside School opens after construction is complete.

Until then, Fireside students will be accommodated at Mitford School/Cochrane Christian Academy as a school within a school, utilizing the modular units to the northeast of the school building.
