It was a terrible commute this morning for many motorists as drifting snow and icy patches covered much of Highway 22.

Adam Loria, Public Education Officer says Cochrane RCMP responded to a call just after 6 am today (February 13).

'In the vicinity of Township Road 242, they found a vehicle collision involving a SUV and a sedan of sorts. Both lone occupants were injured and transported via ground EMS to Foothills Medical Centre."

RCMP Constable Harry Rai, says with road conditions being super slippery a vehicle travelling southbound lost control and ended up colliding with a northbound vehicle.

Loria says a man in his 30s had to be extricated out of the vehicle and is currently in life threatening condition with undisclosed internal injuries. The other driver, a male believed to be in his 40s, was responsive and communicating with paramedics on scene and enroute to the hospital, his injuries are non life threatening and considered stable.

At this time no charges have been laid, and the investigation is ongoing.
