Cochrane RCMP have charged a 31 year old Cochrane man after a series of vehicles were damaged in the parking lot of Canadian Brew House on Saturday (April 22) evening around 7 pm.

Corporal Troy Savinkoff says they were tipped off by a restaurant employee that an intoxicated patron was refusing to take a cab home and proceeding to drive away.

"That male as he was driving away rammed into 6 parked cars in the parking lot, causing quite a bit of damage."

Cpl. Savinkoff says they were able to locate the owner and arrest him as he was caught running away from his vehicle.

"A male has been charged with impaired driving operating a vehicle over .08 and six counts of leaving a scene of accident. He ended up providing breath samples of 180 and 170 milligrams of alcohol 100 millilitres of blood with the legal limit being 80."

Cpl. Savinkoff says it isn't often that they see someone so impaired so early in the evening.

"It's an odd time for us to get  that sort of impaired driving, especially in this one where there was a lot of significant damage he was doing to other vehicles. He just didn't run into one, he ran into several and pushed some of them a decent distance."

His name has not been released at this time as information awaits to be sworn in.
