With PC leader Jason Kenney and Wildrose leader Brian Jean coming to town Monday evening (July 3) there is a lot more talk about uniting the right.

If you are in support of unification and want to vote in the upcoming referendum, Owen Neal, Co Captain for Alberta Can't Wait, says first things first, you need to have a membership.

While you can support either party; if you are a member of both you will be able to cast votes in both the PC and Wildrose Unity referendums.

Neal shares there are some differences in how each party will handle their referendum. "One of the significant differences is the PCs will have voting over a three day period, Thursday to Saturday (July 20-22) while the Wildrose you will only be able to vote on the 22. Now the voting method for PCs everything is online or by phone but for Wildrose you can go online, by phone or in person on the 22nd at their Special General Meeting and vote there."

The important thing to note is if you don't have membership you will be unable to participate in the upcoming referendums. You can get your pin number to vote for the PCs from July 1 until midnight Wednesday, July 12, while you can sign up for Wildrose membership/pin anytime from now until Saturday, July 8.

While Neal wasn't 100% sure on timing he is fairly certain votes will be tallied on July 22.

"It has to be resolved, if there is a unity agreement, July 23 on Sunday the leadership race begins and then that is resolved by a vote at the end of October and then the real leadership race is on."

You will be able to pick up your membership at the upcoming Alberta Can't Wait Kenney and Jean discussion in Cochrane on July 3; if looking to purchase online for PC membership go here likewise Wildrose membership information can be found here.
