When many Albertans choose to work in fields of oil and gas or agriculture, others choose to impact the world in a different way.

Marnie Madden, Local Cochrane Producer, chose the film industry because of her passion to inspire the world through story telling. She combined her first film with her other passion saving the planet.

“I've always loved entertaining creating stories that hopefully will inspire the world or entertain them. I started 'Mother Earth', that was my first shout out videos. I just wanted to let others know there's a way to help Mother Earth and that is about recycling and composting.”

Madden is very thrilled to be living in a community that has become more environmentally conscious.

“Cochrane is amazing! They have the Eco Centre, where you can take everything from Styrofoam to your composting to your paper. Essentially We don't have to put anything into the garbage now.”

'Mother Earth' is available on YouTube but Madden adds she hopes to do more with it in the future.

Madden has also produced her own cooking show, called 'Cougars Cooking Show' and brought on board some famous friends to whip up some great meals.

"Saleste Mele, was my co-host and we also went to acting school together. I also brought in Nathaniel Arcand and he did some delicious recipes as well.”

Because Madden wanted to lose weight the premise of the show was set up to teach her recipes that are affordable and easy to cook and would teach people about healthy eating.

The show was a hit and caught the attention of an on-line cooking network.

“It actually started out as a project for school and then got picked up by Foody TV. So far we have 7 (episodes) completely finished and I have six still in edits.”

Currently, Madden is working on a western called 'The Silver Thimble Gang' about a group of ladies and how they better their lives in the old West.

So far the teaser has been shot and once funding is in place Madden adds she'd like to make it feature with a possibility of a TV series.

Madden says being involved in the film industry has been a dream come true and she inspires others to follow their dreams.

"If you follow the steps it will happen. It's happened for me. It's about writing your goals down. It's only a dream when you don't write them down, as soon as you write them down it becomes reality."
