More details have been released by the Airdrie Rural RCMP on yesterday's fatal collision on the Big Hill Springs Road (Hwy. 567).

On Sept. 18 at approximately 7:30 a.m., the eastbound Dodge pick-up truck of a 72-year-old Cochrane man was struck when a dump truck went into the oncoming lane of Hwy. 567 to avoid colliding with vehicle slowing to make a left turn on to Bearspaw Road. The dump truck struck the Dodge pick-up and it rolled, ending up in the ditch on the side of the highway.

The elderly man, the sole occupant of the pick-up truck, died at the scene.

Airdrie Rural RCMP along with a RCMP collision analyst are continuing to investigate the cause and factors of the collision, says RCMP Cpl. Curtis Peters.
