Due to the warm weather conditions, the Town of Cochrane has determined both Mitford Pond and the Tim Bannister outdoor rink are not safe for skating and are reminding the public at large to stay off all ice surfaces.

Laurie Drukier, Senior Communications Advisor for the Town of Cochrane, says both approved ice services will remain closed until crews determine the ice is once again safe to be on. "Town crews regularly monitor both outdoor skating areas and update their status when conditions change. The best way to find out if they’re open or closed is to call the 24-hour status line for updates: 403-851-2552."

In the meantime, stay off all frozen bodies of water within the Cochrane area and if you notice people not being compliant give Cochrane Fire Services a call at 403-851-2543.
