Cochrane RCMP and other emergency workers had an incredibly difficult day yesterday.

Just before 6 pm Cochrane RCMP, military and civilian aircraft responded to report of a plane crash east of Highway 40 in the Waiparous area.

Shortly after 10:30 pm, RCMP released a statement that the crashed involving a small passenger plane had been located.

Unfortunately according to RCMP, there were no survivors of the crash and confirmed there were two people aboard. Sources indicate the two passengers were instructors from Mount Royal University aboard one of the school's planes.

Transportation Safety Board of Canada will attend the scene in daylight to carry out the rest of the investigation.

RCMP express their condolences to the families and friends of the victims.
